Proposed Changes to National Plumbing Code
The Standing Committee on Building and Plumbing Services has proposed changes to the National Plumbing Code (NPC) for the 2010 Edition. These changes deal with Water Pipe Sizing. The pipe sizing information in the NPC was in need of a review and an update. Work was undertaken to review new materials and technology and to determine if changes were needed to the NPC. It was determined that the information in the NPC needed to be updated since the use of water conserving appliances and fixtures are being implemented in buildings and facilities. This results in lower water usage, which has an impact on the water pipes delivering water to the building/facility. The Standing Committee has developed material that results in a number of changes to Sections 2.6 and 2.7and the Appendix of the NPC 2005. Rough drafts of these sections are now available from your local MCA office for your review. These proposed changes will also be submitted for public review this fall.
