2009/2010 BIOGRAPHIES: REGION PRESIDENTS
Randy Kolstad
B.C. REGION PRESIDENT
Regional Operations Manager
B.C. Plumbing Supplies (BCP)
Randy was born and raised in Surrey, BC. While in school he started working part-time and summers for Cronkhite. When he joined the industry full-time in 1978 he worked first for a mechanical contractor and then on the oil rigs in Northern Alberta.
Coming into the wholesale side of the business full-time, he has worked for Cronkhite, followed by Emco and Wolseley until he joined the B.A. Robinson Group working for B.C. Plumbing in October 2005. Currently Randy is Regional Manager covering the lower mainland.
Randy has two wonderful daughters both graduates of Simon Fraser University and he still volunteers on various boards for sports his daughters were involved in when they were younger. He particularly enjoys spending time on his boat with family and friends.
Randy has been active on the CIPH BC Region Board since 2005 and was appointed BC Region President in May 2009.
Darren Jacobs
EDMONTON REGION PRESIDENT
Sales Manager Northern Alberta
Barclay Sales (Alberta) Ltd., Edmonton, AB
Darren was born and raised in Edmonton. He joined the industry in 1995 with Spectrum Sales in the warehouse and handling inside sales. Darren left the industry for five years to develop his skills as an outside sales rep in the toy and hobby industry. This experience was great teaching him a lot about international business.
In December 2004 Darren joined Barclay Sales
(Alberta) in Edmonton to work as their outside
sales person and immediately started attending
the local CIPH meetings. He soon became a
member of the Region Board and has initiated the
local CIPH newsletter, Backflow.
Darren enjoys time with his family. He is married to
Kelly and has three daughters: Erynn, Kendra and
Robyn.
Matt Robinson
CALGARY REGION PRESIDENT
Sales & Business Development - Calgary
B.A. Robinson Co. Ltd.
Matt who was born and raised in Winnipeg, joined
the industry in 1994 when he worked summers in
the family business until his high school
graduation. He then attended the University of
Western Ontario where he received his B.A. with a
major in Economics in 2001.
Upon completing his degree he moved to
Vancouver where he joined the family business fulltime
working in various positions. In 2004 Matt
moved to Calgary to help open a wholesale
distribution warehouse. Today, Matt continues
growing sales, developing relationships, and
working closely with marketing in the Calgary area.
Matt joined the Calgary Board in 2006 and was
appointed Calgary Region President in June 2009.
Wes Sapieha
SASKATCHEWAN REGION PRESIDENT
Outside Sales
Wolseley Canada, Saskatoon, SK
Wes was born and raised in Saskatoon and has
been around the plumbing industry since the age
of 15. He started with Westburne in September
1987 in the warehouse and gained experience in
various areas over 13 years. In 2000 Wes was given
the opportunity to move into Inside Sales for the
heating department of what was now Wolseley. In
2003 he was promoted to Outside Sales.
Following the retirement of Garry Brose, an active
CIPH volunteer at the region level, Wes decided to
start attending CIPH meetings and functions and
gradually has become more involved in the
Saskatchewan Region.
Wes and his wife Ruby have been married since
1990, and have three very active children: Micaela
(12), Dana (10), and Lathan (7). Wes is a Level 2
certified baseball coach and is active in community
ball as a coordinator. He has also been involved in
his children’s many activities by coaching and/or
managing hockey, ringette, and baseball. In his
own spare time he enjoys hockey and golf.
Dan Jones
MANITOBA REGION PRESIDENT
Sales
Jones Goodridge Inc., Winnipeg, MB
Dan was born and raised in Winnipeg. He got his
first taste of the plumbing industry by working for
Jones Goodridge in the warehouse when he was
16. Throughout university and later college, Dan
worked part-time as a receiver at Western
Supplies. He received a Business Administration
diploma from Red River College in June of 1998
and started working at Jones Goodridge Inc. just a
few weeks later.
Dan has been active with CIPH since 1998. He
joined the CIPH Manitoba Board in 2007 and was
appointed Region President in May 2009.
Dan and his wife Heather have been married since
2002 and have one son Owen (2) with another little
one on the way. He enjoys summers at the lake,
hockey, golf, playing guitar and has a love of music.
Michael Kotyck
ONTARIO REGION PRESIDENT
President
Kotyck Bros Ltd.; Mississauga, ON
In 1996, Michael joined the family business, Kotyck
Bros. Ltd., a small independent wholesale company
begun by his grandfather and his brothers over 60
years ago. After earning a degree in engineering
and an MBA while working summers in the
business, and with the help of his father George,
Michael helped move the company into the 1980’s,
investing in computer systems, developing an
outside sales presence, and joining CIPH.
As the economy expanded, so too did the
business, and when his father retired, Michael
became the president of the company. Kotyck
Bros. opened their first branch in Brampton, ON
last year.
Michael lives in Toronto with his wife Laurie and
their three children: Olivia, Victoria and David. He
enjoys golfing and playing hockey.
Pierre Dandurand
QUEBEC REGION PRESIDENT
Sales Manager (Québec)
Victaulic Ltd., Pointe Claire, QC
Pierre grew up in Vaudreuil, QC and studied
marketing first at Valleyfield College and then at
McGill University.
He joined the industry when he began working for
Victaulic in 1990 and has been Sales Manager since
1995. Pierre is involved with industrial and mining
projects worldwide. He has been involved on the
Quebec Region Board of CIPH since 1998. Pierre
believes strongly in the value of networking and
being an active partner with CIPH has been and
continues to be a great experience.
Pierre has two children: Bruno and Amélie. They
live in Saint Lazare, QC.
Rob Barrett
ATLANTIC REGION PRESIDENT
Vice President
Barrett Sales (1998) Ltd., Saint John, NB
Rob was born and raised in Saint John, NB. While
attending the University of New Brunswick in 1998
he started working for Barrett Sales (1998) Ltd.
part-time and started full-time in 2001 after
completing university. Barrett Sales was started in
1990 by Rob’s father Fred Barrett, who also was
the Atlantic Region President from 1994-1996.
Rob and his wife Stacy live in Hampton, NB with
their two children: daughter Olivia and their son
Alex who was born June 18th of 2009.
Tony Noonan
NEWFOUNDLAND REGION PRESIDENT
Profit Center Manager
Emco Corporation, Mount Pearl, NL
Tony was born and raised in Bay-De-Verde, NL.
After earning a B.Sc. in Mathematics from
Memorial University of NL, he joined the industry
full-time in 1996 working first for a Fire Protection
company on the offshore oil rigs in Newfoundland.
He later moved into the wholesale side of the
business full-time and now works for Emco.
Currently Tony is Profit Center Manager for
Plumbing, Heating and HVAC.
Tony has three children Benjamin (8), Jack (6), and
James (5). He particularly enjoys spending time
camping with family and friends.
Tony has been active on the CIPH NL Region Board
since 2007 and was appointed BC Region President
in May 2009.
