Mayor Naheed Nenshi, of the City of Calgary has declared March 11th World Plumbing Day
World Plumbing Day is an international event held each year to raise awareness for the importance of plumbing in protecting the planet and its citizens. In many developing countries, limited or even a non-existent plumbing infrastructure contributes to a high incidence of disease and death.
Whereas: Every person on the planet is affected by the availability of clean drinking water and basic sanitation;
Whereas: The world Health Organization estimated that over three hundred thousand children under the age of five die each year due to water related diseases;
Whereas: Simple plumbing solutions could make all the difference in saving lives.
On behalf of the City Council and the citizens of Calgary, I hereby proclaim the day of March 11th as:
