Happy ‘Spring’ fellow CIPH members! As every April edition of the “Chairman’s Message” tends to begin, I will share the sentiment of many before me… where does the time go? April… Wow. And as per the norm, the first quarter of 2016 has been a very busy one for the CIPH team and Board of Directors. Firstly, thank you to the many members who participated in the CIPH Town Hall in early February. This highly interactive event generated invaluable input from our membership to help launch the Board into a constructive Long-Range Planning (LRP) process that took place over 2 days later that month. We are currently working on documenting the LRP output in order to share the goals and action plans that we intend to execute over the next three years – Stay tuned!
In March, 300+ attendees gathered to celebrate the incredible achievements of our Charity Committee at the Habitat for Humanity (HFH) Gala. During the most recent campaign, ended December 31, 2015, as a result of the generous support of the CIPH membership, we raised over $2.2 Million in product and financial donations in support of HFH. But the real win comes from listening to the heartfelt words of appreciation from the families whose lives are massively transformed simply due to having a safe house to come home to. If you are interested in participating in some of the HFH home builds that are happening in and around your communities, please feel free to reach out to CIPH for more information.
Lastly, the CMPX show in Toronto attracted more than 8000 visitors during the 3-day event – if you missed it in person, I hope you were able to feel the excitement from afar through your Twitter feed or Linked In site… There was no lack of gag photos, fake magazine covers and St. Paddy’s day festivities on the digital newswire!
Some key events coming up in the next few months include:
CIPH-MCAC “Day on the Hill” to raise awareness on the issues of Harmonization of Codes and Regulations within Canada, and Prompt Payment legislation (May 10, Ottawa)
The American Supply Association ‘Women in Industry’ Conference with ‘yours truly’ on the speaker roster (April 27-29, Chicago)
The MEET tradeshow (May 18-19, Moncton)
And of course we have a phenomenal agenda ready to go for the CIPH Annual Business Conference being held in Banff (June 26-28).
Also this spring, Ralph Suppa and I will be wrapping up our 2015-2016 tour of the CIPH Regions with meetings in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and the Maritime Region. Please come out and support these great events - I look forward to seeing you!
