British Columbia

 

President Tim Main (Xylem) reports: The Annual Christmas Social was held on December 3rd with nearly 100 members in attendance. The next Region Business meeting is scheduled for April 6th and will feature Barry Howard, Senior Consultant with Logan HR who will discuss the newest trends in interviewing job applicants to ensure a proper fit and better retention. The BC Region AGM and Golf Tournament is scheduled for May 10th at the Surrey Golf Course. For more information please contact Kathryn Kubossek.



Edmonton

 

President Joe Howdle (Canplas Industries) reports: On January 20th Edmonton Region hosted a successful Welcome to 2016 Wine Tasting Social and on March 10th a Region Business Meeting was held featuring a presentation by Justin Riemer, Assistant Deputy Minister, Enterprise Division, Innovation and Advanced Education on the redevelopment of downtown Edmonton. A total 70 members attended these two meetings. The next Region Business Meeting will be held on April 14th and will feature Toby Mack, CEO of the Energy Equipment & Infrastructure Alliance who will address “Oil and Gas from Shale: the Promise and the Politics” at the Edmonton Executive Royal Inn West. Edmonton Region’s AGM and Golf Tournament is scheduled for May 11th at The Ranch Golf & Country Club. For more information please contact Linda Wood Edwards.


Calgary

 

President Stu Davidson (Points West Marketing) reports: A Region Business Luncheon was held on February 25th featuring Todd Hirsch, Chief Economist for ATB Financial who delivered an Economist Forecast for 2016. This event was sold out with 40 members in attendance. Calgary Region will be holding its AGM in conjunction with an Industry Panel on April 21st at the Glenmore Inn. Saskatchewan

 

President Kent Mortenson (Crane Supply) reports: The next Region Business Meeting is scheduled for April 19th in Saskatoon featuring Jason Yochim, CEO of the Saskatoon Region Association of Realtors. CIPH Chairman Siân Smith (Noble Corp.) and CIPH President Ralph Suppa will be attendance to provide an update on CIPH’s newest Long Range Plan. Manitoba

 

President Kevin Young (Emco) reports: The next Region Business Meeting and Breakfast is scheduled for April 21st at Canad Inns Polo Park, Ambassador K and will feature CIPH Chairman Siân Smith (Noble Corp.) and CIPH President Ralph Suppa who will provide an update on CIPH’s newest Long Range Plan. Ontario

 

President Brent Cornelissen (OS&B) reports: The most recent Region Business Meeting was held on January 28th and featured performance coach Dane Jensen who delivered a presentation on building personal resilience. 121 members were in attendance. The next Region Business meeting will be held on April 14th and will feature CBC media pundit and radio/TV personality Rex Murphy. For more information please contact Nancy Barden.


Quebec

 

President Sylvain Fournier (Moen Inc.) reports: A Region Business Meeting was held on March 10th in Quebec City featuring Stephane Labrie, CEO of the Régie du Bâtiment du Québec. 80 members were in attendance. The next Region Business Meeting will be held in Ottawa on April 4th at the Fairmont Château Laurier and will feature Senator Don Plett. This event will be preceded by a tour of Parliament Hill. Maritime

 

President David Harris (Harris Atlantic Sales) reports: CIPH Maritime Region hosted a successful one-day training workshop on March 23rd,“Building and Sustaining Customer Loyalty” led by Frank Foster. A total of 15 members were in attendance. A Region Business Meeting & Dinner will be held on May 17th at the Delta Beausejour in Moncton, NB. Featured speakers will be CIPH Chairman Siân Smith (Noble Corp.) and CIPH President Ralph Suppa who will provide an update on CIPH’s newest Long Range Plan. The CIPH Maritime Region AGM is scheduled for June 15th at Fox Creek Golf Club in Dieppe, NB. For more information please contact Wendy Piercy.
 


Newfoundland & Labrador

 

President John Ozon (Kerr Controls) reports: a special Industry Panel forum moderated by CIPH President and General Manager Ralph Suppa will be held on April 5th at the Capitol Hotel in St. John’s. This event will address:

  • Plumbing codes and standards
  • The labour market
  • Inspections
  • Non compliant products
  • Supply chain channel trends

The Region Board under the leadership of David Rowe (Wolseley Canada) has assembled a distinguished panel, featuring Adam Rickert, Owner/Operator, Hot Water Systems/Fresh Air Systems; Sylvester Crocker, Manager, Regulatory Services, City of St. John's; John Ozon, Branch Supervisor, Kerr Controls, and; Dave Dawe, Procurement Coordinator, GJ Cahill Ltd.  The Annual General Meeting will be held on April 6th at Smitty’s Restaurant in St. John’s.
