Charity Committee Update
July 15, 2016
There is no rest during the summer for the folks at Habitat for Humanity, and CIPH is happy to update the membership on two projects we are currently supporting.
In Burlington, volunteers and organization staff are spending the summer working on interiors. The drywall is going up as we speak and the project is getting that much closer to completion. The families will be moving into their homes in the early part of the fall and there will be a special celebration when they are handed their keys. All members are encouraged to attend this moving community event on September 10th. Details to be announced.
In Winnipeg, they are rapidly building an exciting home right on the University of Winnipeg campus downtown. With the build going on in the centre of town it is getting a lot of media attention and we could not be more thrilled for the family partner, a local indigenous family.
When it is complete it will be moved to its permanent foundation within the community and the CIPH Board will visit the site on September 14th.
Habitat is seeking to build 250 homes across Canada in 2016 and you can help by making a contribution to CIPH’s annual campaign. CIPH members are in a unique position to help Habitat achieve its goal of safe, affordable homes for all Canadians. All donations, especially of valuable product, bring them one step closer. Even obsolete inventory can have a significant impact when donated to your local ReStore. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to find out how.
