The Canadian AntiCounterfeiting Network (CIPH is a participating member) has sent a letter to the leadership of online retailer giant Alibaba praising them for their determination and commitment to “lead the fight against global counterfeiting, online and offline”. In summary, the CACN letter goes on to say that industry must lead where governments are stymied by borders and policy priorities. Collaboration and leadership is the only vehicle to manage this global challenge.
“We would love to work with the branded companies,” Ma said, adding that the company had around 2,000 staff working on the problem. “We cannot solve the problem 100 percent because it’s fighting against human instinct. But we can solve the problem better than any government, any organizations, any people in the world.”
