National Model Energy Code for Buildings

The recently enacted update to the National Model Energy Code for Buildings includes significant insulation requirements for subfloor radiant heating.

Since the code became active on November 1st, many members have seen a significant impact on the demand for hydronic heating installations, especially in the province of Alberta. As a result, the Canadian Hydronics Council is actively seeking to facilitate a change to the insulation requirements which are making energy efficient hydronic heating systems look noncompetitivewith alternatives, in terms of initial investment costs.
