|Manufacturers’ Agents’ Council Terms of Reference|
Authority & Purpose
The Manufacturers’ Agents’ Council derives its authority from the Board of Directors of the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating. It will present annually to the Board an operational programme (programme of work) for the following year, and shall report to the Board at each meeting held during the year. The purpose of the division is to represent the interests of the Manufacturers’ Agencies in membership in the Institute.
All Manufacturers’ Agencies paying membership dues to the Institute shall automatically be members of the Agents’ Council. Annually, a Chairman of the Council will be appointed by the Board of Directors and shall be responsible for reporting to the Board. As much as possible recognizing the strongly regionalized nature of agencies, the division shall operate through a small steering committee, with the Council Chairman also chairing the Steering Committee. [This Steering Committee shall meet from time to time at the call of the Chairman.]
The Council will meet at least once annually to review activities and programmes created or planned to serve the needs of this membership group. This shall normally be held coincident with the Annual Business Conference, but may be held at any time, provided that all members within the category of membership are invited to attend.
No expenditures may be authorized without the agreement of the Board of Directors and the President & General Manager or Manager of Operations. The Council may be required at any time to prepare and present a budget in anticipation of any program that may incur expenditures.
