The customized Schulich Executive Education Centre/CIPH Strategic Leadership Program has been designed to develop the leaders in the Plumbing and Heating Industry. This exciting new program has been created based on feedback from members through various training needs surveys.


Curriculum will help participants develop competency in the areas of Digital Transformation, Talent Selection and Development, Collaborating for Success and Customer Service Excellence in the plumbing and heating industry during a time of increased competition and transformational change. 

The Strategic Leadership 
Training Program will provide managers at all levels with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed based on industry specific case studies. Participants will learn new skills and techniques needed to create value for your customers and bring out the best in the people who work with and for you. 



Who should attend The Strategic Leadership Program? Senior Executives and Senior Managers, Regional Managers, Marketing Managers, Team Leaders, Supervisors, Business Development Executives and Future Industry Leaders. This senior leadership certificate program boasts an interactive learning format that includes current case examples and peer-to-peer expertise exchange.


Registration (Limited to 25 people): Early bird pricing: $4,999+ tax per person before November 1, 2019 ($5,299 after). Registration fee includes all course materials and breakfast, lunch, breaks, and breakout rooms. Schedule & Curriculum



Module 1 - Tues. February 11, 2020
Digital Transformation

This session focuses on leveraging digital transformation to drive business growth. Many managers are struggling to understand how these technologies can improve organizational productivity and add value. Participants will examine applying the technology in their business environments and create a roadmap for leading and implementing impactful digital transformation.

After sneaking away from a small-town prairie farm, Shane spent his early career as an entrepreneur in North America and Europe focused on product design, robotics and connected devices. He later joined Idea Couture, a Design Thinking and innovation consultancy, to combine his technical knowledge with a knack for business strategy. Shane is a prolific writer on technology and frequently gives talks on Design Thinking, robotics, AI, IoT and the future of technology in society. He teaches at the Schulich Executive Education Centre, is a Vanier scholar pursuing a PhD in Robotics at the University of Toronto, holds an MBA in Technology and Innovation from Ryerson University and a BEng from McGill University.

Talent Selection and Development

We are asked all the time “How do we develop a robust talent pipeline?” “Can you suggest a more organized way to develop our high-potentials in an impactful way?” This session is designed to help companies create a high performance culture that is aligned around critical business priorities, have the right talent in place now and in the future, provide their people with the right skills to meet business challenges and engage people to perform at their best.

Dr. Gail Levitt teaches both open enrollment and custom programs at the Schulich Executive Education Centre. She teaches topics such as stakeholder management, negotiation strategies, effective communication skills, leadership, coaching, talent management and succession planning. Gail is President of Levitt Communications, which is celebrating 23 years of success working with leaders to be more agile communicators and strategists when influencing and negotiating to achieve successful results. Her clients include SNC-Lavalin, Province of Ontario, TD Bank, Toronto Hydro, Cap-Gemini, PMI, Transport Canada, and Bell Canada.



Module 3 - Wed. April 15, 2020
Collaborating for Success

In this session, participants will learn how to systematically improve team cooperation, working relationships and results in any organizational setting. They will develop enhanced leadership, communication and collaboration skills to improve individual, team and organizational effectiveness.

Module 4 - Thurs. April 16, 2020
Customer Service Excellence
How can you build the best service culture in your industry? Achieving strong customer loyalty and customer satisfaction are the cornerstones of every great company. This course is hands-on learning. You will develop an active plan using input from your customers and business team to achieve the top service levels in your industry.

Diana Kawarsky specializes in business communications for Schulich’s Executive Education Centre, York University. In addition, she is a facilitator, adult educator, coach and management consultant with Fortune 500 companies throughout North America. Her experience spans more than 20 years. Diana is a specialist in facilitating learning for professionals to hone their interpersonal and intrapersonal skill sets; topics include, business writing, customer service skills, presentation skills, leadership development, management effectiveness, productivity skills, storytelling and creative thinking and problem solving. To date, Diana has worked with more than 20,000 business professionals, effectively improving their management communications.
