Decoding National Code Process 101 &

Proposed NPC Changes for 2020

This information and interactive webinar presented by the National Research Council (NRC) and the Canadian Institute of Plumbing & Heating (CIPH) will address how the National Code is developed and proposed National Plumbing Code (NPC) changes for 2020. 


The first part of the webinar will explain the basic entry points into the national code development process and explain the milestones of code development and the players involved.

The second part of the webinar will give an overview of changes proposed for the 2020 NPC.

The presenters are Frank Lohmann, Manager of Canada's Code Development System and Taous Achour, Technical Advisor.




 Frank Lohmann


As Manager of Canada's Code Development System, Frank Lohmann is responsible for code development process of the National Building, Fire, Energy and Plumbing Codes and the policy and strategy side of the code development.


As Deputy Chair of the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes he advises the Chair of the Commission in all aspects of national code development.

Frank has 20 years of experience in code and guide development and holds an engineering degree in building science from Germany. 



Taous Achour


As Technical Advisor, Taous Achour provides support to the Standing Committee on HVAC and Plumbing and its Tasks Groups in their development and updating of the Plumbing Code and the Part 6 of the National Building Code.


Taous holds a master degree in architecture from Algeria, with a specialization in bioclimatic architecture. She has 3 years of experience in national code and guide development and worked for 9 years as an Architect in Algeria on a wide range of projects and buildings.
