Premier of PEI a featured speaker at CIPH Conference

Newly elected Premier Dennis King to speak to delegates at the

Annual Business Conference

When Dennis King agreed to speak at our conference, he was and is a terrific storyteller. On May 9, 2019, Mr. King was sworn in as the 33rd Premier of Prince Edward Island.

Born in Georgetown, PEI, Premier King worked in many PEI media outlets including the Eastern Graphic, The Guardian and CFCY radio.

In 1997 he started work as a public relations coordinator for the Ministry of Transportation. He then moved on to Director of Communications for the Department of Development and Technology, and ultimately Director of Communications and Executive Assistant to the Premier of PEI.

Over the years, Premier King has held positions in communications, business development, marketing and public relations before returning to public service in 2019.

In 2014, he was invited on stage as a storyteller at the PEI Mutual Festival of Small Halls. Premier King says that one night in Malpeque profoundly changed his life. From there, he became a founding member of The Four Tellers storytelling group which played to sold-out audiences for four summers at Georgetown’s Kings Playhouse. Through the power of stories, they were able to unite generations of Islanders, young and old, by celebrating Island characters and stories with pride and affection.

“We are thrilled to welcome Premier King to our Annual Business Conference” commented Allen Taylor, CIPH Chairman of the Board, “and are looking forward to connecting our delegates from across Canada with Island lore”.  The conference takes place June 16-18, 2019 in Charlottetown, PEI.
