CIPH has been a proud partner of Habitat for Humanity Canada since 1994. This year we celebrated 30 years of unwavering partnership. Over this period, our members have raised funds, donated product, and helped build homes in support of Habitat's mission to build affordable housing and promote home ownership as a means of breaking the cycle of poverty. Since 1994 CIPH members have contributed more than $18 million in cash and product to help provide homes for Canadian families in need of safe, affordable housing.
The latest CIPH sponsored home build is currently underway in St. John’s, Newfoundland under the leadership of Sam Strange (Wolseley Canada) and the Newfoundland Region Board. Thank you to all the CIPH members who assisted by donating product, cash and time to help with this build project.
There are three very important ways you and your company can donate: - Cash: Cash is a much-needed donation as it assists Habitat for Humanity Affiliates to purchase land, permits etc. to start the process of securing home build sites for future Habitat Homes.
- Restore Donations: Do you have obsolete or discontinued inventory in your warehouse/branches? Consider donating to Habitat for Humanity through the CIPH Program and diverting these products from landfills
- Product Certificates: The CIPH Certificate program has been designed to help local Habitat Affiliate easily secure CIPH members products through local supporting wholesalers. For example: a member donates an item, the certificate is then created and provided to a local Habitat Affiliate who then visits a local CIPH wholesalers who stocks that specific item. The wholesaler then bills the item as outlined on the certificate to the member providing the original of the redeemed certificate as documentation.
When considering donating product certificates please keep in mind Habitat for Humanity builds simple, basic homes; therefore, they cannot accept donations of luxury products. Most affiliates now are also building to best-in-class provincial green standards. The more we can help them build green, the better end result for the families who save on their long-term utility bills.
Some of the most common products needed for Habitat home build include: Furnaces (high efficiency units, variable outputs); Bath Tubs (white, prefer acrylic); Faucets (single lever kitchen, bathroom; low flow shower controls etc.); Heat Recovery Ventilators with master timers; Toilets (low flow, dual flush); DWV pipe and fittings; Bathroom vanity sinks (prefer white); Stainless steel sinks; Water heaters (Energy Star certified or dual venting; 40 Gallon most common); PEX & PEX fittings (1/2” & ¾”); Laundry tubs/basins; Sump pumps; Drum style humidifiers; Programmable thermostats; Bathroom exhaust fans; and of Certificates for random wholesale supplies of any value are greatly appreciated so that random supplies can be purchased at the local wholesaler.
