- New relationship with Canadian Association of Business Students
expands reach of CIPH CareerTap program -

TORONTO, ON (January 5, 2016) – The Canadian Institute of Plumbing & Heating (CIPH) is now partnering with the Canadian Association of Business Students (CABS) as a part of long-term strategic plan aimed at students to raise awareness about the many wide-ranging careers in the plumbing and heating industry.

CIPH will sponsor JDC Central an event that brings business students together from across the country in a multi-faceted competition, including academic cases for a variety of business disciplines, parliamentary style debates, sports tournaments, social competitions and charity contributions.

“Recruiting talent into our industry remains a priority for many of our members,” said Ralph Suppa, President and General Manager of the Canadian Institute of Plumbing & Heating.  “We want to attract people interested in accounting, engineering, marketing, sales and a whole host of other career choices.  By engaging students at these events, we’re targeting the best of the best, who may not completely understand the exciting opportunities in our industry today and for the future. Our member companies are running sophisticated businesses well positioned to continue to provide products and services that are vital to all Canadians.”

CIPH will have a significant presence in the career fair portion of both events, as well as an opportunity to address a large student audience directly as a speaker series sponsor of JDC Central.  JDC Central is being hosted by Carleton University in Ottawa, January 6-8.

“What we’ve come to learn in partnering with CIPH is that the country's plumbing and heating industry is meeting the environmental challenges of tomorrow with real-world solutions today,” said Trevor Green, CABS President.  “Students participating at these events will learn that there are significant career paths for all types of graduates and employment seekers.”

To promote the industry to young people, new college and university graduates, CIPH also provides resources and posts job openings at its CIPH Career Centre.
