This year’s CIPH Annual Business Conference proved that when members come together great things do happen.

Under the Rising Tide theme, delegates and guests from across the plumbing and heating industry gathered in St. Andrews, New Brunswick to share ideas, tackle challenges, and explore opportunities that are shaping the future of our industry.

From fireside chats and insightful speakers to breakout sessions and good ol’ networking, delegates examined the trends and issues that are shaping the industry. Just as importantly, they contributed their own expertise and perspectives, reinforcing the collaborative spirit of Canada’s essential plumbing and heating industry.

We also took the time to celebrate the many volunteers, leaders, and members who continue to move our association and industry forward. Their contributions
remind us that meaningful progress is built by individuals that are
committed to strengthening the profession and creating better outcomes for
the people who depend on it every day.

As delegates and guests return home from ABC, they take with them new knowledge, stronger relationships, and renewed confidence in the future of the industry.

See you next year in Victoria, British Columbia!

View the conference photo gallery here.

As part of CIPH’s commitment to Connect, Advocate, Inform and Deliver for our members, we are excited to share a few important team updates.

Nancy Barden

After 33 years of service to Canada's plumbing and heating industry, Nancy Barden has decided to step down from the position of Director of Member Services, effective December 31, 2025.

In the over three decades that Nancy has contributed to the growth of CIPH, there is not a file, position, member, stakeholder, committee, council, or an event that does not bear her handprints. She wears her passion on her sleeves; never wanting to let members or her colleagues down. Nancy has managed many aspects of member offerings over her career, including the Habitat for Humanity partnership, CIPH’s Annual Business Conference, membership reports and statistics, Ontario Region and the IPVF Committee and Training. Quite simply, Nancy's handprints are on the very foundations of CIPH!

Yet, Nancy's single biggest accomplishment, may be her passion and contributions to supporting more women and the next generation of leaders in the industry – Women’s Network and Young Executive Society. From supporting the founding committee, to planning inaugural events, to rolling out tools and resources to support industry leaders, Nancy's many contributions have made CIPH and the industry a more welcoming place to make a career. In 2024, Nancy was recognized for her many achievements, as the recipient of the Women of Distinction Award by the CIPH Board of Directors. Nancy is truly one of the trailblazers in our industry. For that, we are grateful and thankful to Nancy Barden for all that she has done to support our industry!

All that said, Nancy is not quite done with CIPH and our Members. In opting for a different pace to life, one that will allow Nancy to enjoy more time with her beloved family, we are excited to share that Nancy has agreed to continue her lifetime of service to CIPH by transitioning to a newly created position, Senior Advisor, Special Projects, effective January 1, 2026. This new position, will allow CIPH to continue to benefit from Nancy's love of the industry and our members, leveraging her extensive experience with key CIPH priorities (corporate social responsibility, supporting women in the industry), including, mentoring and supporting the next generation of CIPH leaders, as she transitions to the next and well-deserved phase of her life.

Kevin Ernst

Kevin Ernst, an experienced business leader and standards professional with more than 30 years in the plumbing and heating industry is joining CIPH as Technical Advisor, effective, November 1, 2025.

After a successful career culminating as Chief Operating Officer of +osb, Kevin has launched his own consultancy, SKE Partners (Strategic Knowledge Exchange).

Through SKE Partners, he continues to share his expertise in codes, standards, and industry strategy, helping organizations navigate complex regulatory environments and strengthen their technical and market positioning.

Kevin is widely recognized for his leadership in harmonizing plumbing standards across North America. He has served in senior roles on numerous CSA, ASME, and IAPMO technical committees, including as Chair of the CSA B125 Plumbing Fittings and CSA B1800 Plastic Non-Pressure Pipe committees, and Vice Chair of CSA Z317.1 Plumbing in Health Care Facilities. remains active with his family and in his church community. He is
passionate about music, singing in his church choir and is part of a male quartet. He is
dedicated to sharing knowledge, building collaboration, and advancing codes and
standards that support a sustainable future for the industry.

Veda Narain

We are very excited to welcome Veda Narain to the CIPH team as Coordinator, Member Services, who succeeds Layyaba Shazad, as she moves over to events and programs, supporting the Canadian Hydronics Council. Veda holds a BA in Sociology from York University, and extensive experience in the Not-for-Profit sector, more specifically membership engagement.
